Position Summary:

As the Interior Designer, you will assist in all aspects of moving a project along in a timely and streamlined manner. You work under the direction of your Lead/Senior Designer along with the client’s approved concept, to assist in the clerical administration, facilitation of research and the purchases of products and goods consistent with the standards of the client’s requirements, and in accordance with approved specifications. Some of the tasks will include direct communication with clients and vendors, updating databases, preparing specifications, reviewing proposals, handling correspondence, etc. You embrace challenges and learning opportunities, maintain P&H Interiors very high standards and take full ownership of getting your jobs installed on time and to our client’s delight. Position may require overnight stays for limited out of town projects.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Research furniture and fabrics options and have recommendations from which designer will make selections
  • Construct a list of any remaining items that have not been selected and discuss with designer. Select options and present to designer for final selection, make reselections as necessary
  • Set up and take down presentation, returning any unselected items to its rightful place in the library
  • Compile a list of fabrics, wallcoverings, and finish samples to be ordered, and order them accurately
  • Create digital presentations using InDesign, CAD and Photoshop
  • Confirm that furniture selections work within the floorplan and share these findings with the CAD dept. Adjust CAD if necessary
  • Accurately review and confirm that dimensions/description matches the client proposal prior to presenting for lead designer
  • Provide manufacturing specs to Purchasing Department to execute on lead designer’s choice
  • Prior to making selections, review job for full scope of project with the entire team including CAD/Design and purchasing
  • Visit job site to evaluate progress of project.
  • All your communication is timely, and your communicated information is accurate

Competencies

  • Associate’s degree in Interior Design or equivalent certification
  • 1-2 years’ experience in Interior Design including internship
  • Must be skilled at following design concepts and color schemes
  • Strong sense of style and creativity
  • Must demonstrate familiarity with all products provided by designers (fabric, leather, upholstery, case goods and carpet qualities and types.)
  • Proficient spoken and written English. Superb listening skills. Able to resolve concerns professionally and gracefully.
  • Helpful, optimistic, focused, driven to accuracy, and take psychological ownership of what you say and do. Punctual, meticulous, and reliable
  • Able to pick up and absorb information quickly
  • Dress the part of a design professional. Adherence to relevant health & safety procedures
  • Able to demonstrate by example and inspire other to discern and follow P&H Core Values:
